Former Pax E-2C pilot to command Carrier Group 8
Rear Adm. William J. McCarthy, a former E-2C Hawkeye pilot and Naval Test Pilot School graduate who made several tours at NAS Patuxent River in the 1980s, is going to command Carrier Group 8 headquartered in Norfolk but currently deployed aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) in the Persian Gulf.
