AWACS tests new identification system
A new AWACS Identification Friend or Foe, or IFF, demonstrator interrogator system was tested recently at Patuxent River. The interrogator transmitted a new waveform known as Mode 5. The Mode 5 Interrogator capability will provide significant additional identification performance over the current capability being used.
