Pilots earn DFC medals for close-air support mission
USMC Lt. Col. Mike Franzak and Capt. Mike Trapp were awarded the Distinguished Flying Crosses for saving a ground combat team in Afghanistan�s central mountain region on Aug. 25, 2003. This is the first time for Harrier pilots in 15 years, and the first of the medals given for Afghanistan operations.
