U.S. Navy Announces CVN to Replace USS Kitty Hawk in 2008 Japan has allowed the U.S. Navy to deploy one of its Nimitz-class aircraft carrier in Japan to replace the USS Kitty Hawk.

The USS Kitty Hawk will return to the United States in 2008 to be decommissioned.
