Alliant tests next-generation missile system Alliant Techsystems has successfully tested a scramjet that flew at Mach 5.5 for at least 15 seconds.

The Dec. 10 launch was part of a Pentagon program called Freeflight Atmospheric Scramjet Test Technique.
