F-111's retirement 'unwise'
A former RAAF squadron commander told a parliamentary committee that Australia's fleet of F-111 fighters should be kept in service until 2020.
Retired group captain Milton Cottee said the retirement of the F-111 is dependent on the successful upgrade of the F/A-18 fleet and the introduction of the F-35.
Any delay in both programs will result in degrading Australia's defense capabilities.
