Pentagon warns Beach's plan won’t meet criteria
U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon R. England is telling Virginia Beach officials that they efforts to limit commercial and residential development near Oceana Naval Air Station 'may not fully address' BRAC demands.
The 2005 Defense Base Realignment and Closure Commission ordered the East Coast master jet base to be shifted to Cecil Field, Florida unless Virginia and Virginia Beach erase development in the high-risk areas near Oceana.
