Cost Could Scuttle Airborne Laser
Airborne Laser could still be cancelled even if it proves to be a technical success as it may be too expensive to operate.
A recent GAO report said the program could experience a cost overrun of between $43.8 million and $231.7 million.
The Airborne Laser aims to shoot down enemy ballistic missiles with a directed-energy laser aboard a Boeing 747.
