F-35 program total now at $276.5 billion
The cost of the F-35 joint strike fighter program has risen by 7.7 percent or $20 billion.
It is now estimated that U.S. taxpayers will have to pay $276.5 billion to develop all three version of the F-35 for the three services. This amount is for the lifetime of the program.
Pentagon attribute the cost increases to higher materials costs and a change in inflation expectations.
