Hillier's aircraft plan in doubt
The Canadian government is strongly considering buying up to six Boeing C-17s. This will give Canada a strategic lift capability.
The previous Liberal government had wanted to spend $4.6-billion on 16 short-haul tactical transport planes.
Sources say the government would announce it plans to buy a fixed number of strategic aircraft by a certain date and one requirement will be that the aircraft must also have tactical capability, which the C-17 does.
