France, Saudi seal big arms deal
The mainstream Western media have not reported this but Saudi Arabia and France signed a big arms deal for 30 Fennec and 10 NH-90 Marine helicopters as well as two Airbus A330-200 aerial tankers. Talks are underway for Rafales as well.
French business daily La Tribune said the deal was sealed during a visit to the Saudi capital Riyadh on Sunday by French defence minister Michele Alliot-Marie.
Two more deals are being discussed and the first could be sealed by next year for one additional A330-220 tanker, 42 NH-90s, 20 Cougars and four Panthers.
The final one could see France selling 48 Rafales to Saudi.
