Missile upgrading designed for maritime defense, MND says
Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense said the Hsiungfeng-class missile upgrading project is aimed improving its capabilities during sea battles.
It said that the Hsiungfeng is being upgraded as a defensive missile and not as a land attack missile. The Ministry wants the local media to stop what it considers 'misleading' reports.
