Human error caused mid-air collision of Finnish F-18s -Report
The mid-air collision of two Finnish Air Force F-18s in May was caused by pilot error.
The formation lead was carrying out a simulated missile release and banked the aircraft while paying attention to weapons systems. The wingman saw the maneuver and attempted to fly below the lead aircraft, but misjudged the lead aircraft's flight path.
