HAL in $700m JV with Irkut Corp Hindustan Aeronautics has entered into a 50:50 joint venture agreement with Irkut for manufacturing the multi-role transport aircraft (MRTA).

HAL plans to develop MRTA as a freighter aircraft for military use.
