Stennis group could leave early for gulf deployment
USS John C. Stennis could be the second carrier that the Pentagon wants to deploy in the Gulf next month.
The battle group was scheduled to deploy in late January but it could be moved up several weeks, Pentagon sources say.
Other options include sending USS Nimitz, USS Ronald Reagan, USS Kitty Hawk or USS Enterprise.
