U.S. Air Force expands missile-warning alternative
The U.S. Air Force awarded two design contracts to Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics for the Alternative Infrared Satellite System (AIRSS), missile-warning satellite system.
The project is as a backup to the troubled Space-Based Infrared System being developed by Lockheed Martin.
