Unarmed ICBM blasts through 105-ton door in test
The United States launched an unarmed intercontinental ballistic missile early Wednesday with its doors blasted open for the first time in years.
In previous launches, tests performed with concrete door open to cut costs but this test return to closed-door testing because such launches provide more accurate data for tracking the missile.
The Minuteman 3 test flight also used GPS guidance only for the first time.
