Americans offered 'aggressive patrols' in Iranian airspace
Pentagon officials offered to "buzz" Iranian Revolutionary Guard positions with warplanes during the recent detention of 15 British sailors and marines by Iran.
The British declined the offer and asked Washington to stay out of it. London also request Washington to modify exercises by two carrier groups in the Gulf to make them less confrontational.
