Latvian city commemorates US airmen downed by Soviets in 1950
The Latvian port town of Liepaja commemorated Monday the crew of a U.S. Navy Privateer reconnaissance plane, which was shot down by Soviet fighters on Apr. 8, 1950.
The Privateer, a converted Liberator bomber with a crew of ten, crashed into the Baltic some 14 nautical miles off Liepaja.
