Raytheon came out with a quick-as-light fix for American helicopters operating in Iraq by removing the baseball-size tips from its Sidewinder heat-seeking missiles and installing a low-power laser in those tips.
This allows the helicopters to be fitted with microturrets that shots a laser to defeat incoming missiles.
