The Unmanned Combat Air System Carrier Demonstration Program: A New Dawn for Naval Aviation? (PDF)
Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments is encouraging the U.S. Navy to support and expand the UCAS-D demonstration program in order to provide persistence at range.
The report calls for a high-subsonic, heavy-payload unmanned aircraft with an unrefueled combat radius of 1500 miles and the capability for autonomous air refueling.
Unhindered by human factors, a UCAV can stay 50-100 hours at a range of 3000 miles from the carrier.
