Norway to buy U.S.-made transport planes
Norway on Friday announced plans to buy four C-130J Hercules transport aircraft for about 3.6 billion kroner ($600 million).
But the purchase could be stopped by opposition parties as they argued that there was no bidding process.
Defence Minister Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen defended the decision, saying that Norway's old Hercules are showing signs of fatigue and needs to be replace fast. The C-130J is the only aircraft available in the market at such short notice.
