Snowbird jet crashed during air show practice
A Snowbird has crashed on May 18 during a practice near Great Falls, Montana. The team was scheduled to perform during the weekend at Malmstrom Air Force Base.
Eyewithnesses saw Snowbird 2 flown by Captain Shawn McCaughey left the inverted pass formation and smashed into a field near the base runway.
McCaughey did not survive the crash. He was supposed to be married next month.
His father said he died the way he would have wanted. "He always told me that. He said, 'If I'm going to die, I better die in a crash so I'll be happy'. And that's exactly what happened, unfortunately," said Ken McCaughey.
