UAE shopping for AEW&C
Back in December 2007, the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the United Arab Emirates could buy
three refurbished E-2C. Questions were being asked then why the rich state would want to buy a second-hand aircraft and the latest developments from the floors of IDEX suggest the Gulf state could be buying brand new aircraft instead.
A Boeing statement said the company is offering its 737 AEW&C to the UAE while Northrup Grumman said the E-2D has been cleared for sale to the country and the company will offer the E-2C as a gap-filler until the E-2D is available.
