Gates say Navy's fighter shortfall only around 100 aircraft
U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the U.S. Navy faced a shortfall of about only some 100 aircraft rather than 243 planes.

Gates added that that a multiyear contract for new Super Hornets would save only 6.5 percent in procurement costs rather than the 10 percent required.
