New Scientist has an update on DARPA’s plan to have an aircraft that will dive into the ocean and operate as a submarine.
While engineers think they can solve most of the problems to transform a platform with air and sea capabilities. One major obstacle is to build a jet engine that can withstand the thermal shock when rapidly cooled by sea water.
