Singapore’s Defense Minister Teo Chee Hean told parliament that corrosion of the Anti-Ice Start Bleed Valve (AISBV) on both engines of RSAF Apache, tail no. 069, lead to an in-flight engine failure last month.
He said there were no reported incidents of the same nature prior to this incident. The maintenance checks stipulated by the manufacturer would not allow corrosion on the AISBV to be discovered during regular maintenance.
