Britain, U.S. argued over U-2 flights

Britain was unhappy with the United States over the latter’s use of its airbase in Cyprus for U-2 overflights into Turkey, Iraq and Lebanon.

London was worried that such flights could collect data that might lead to potential human rights violations. Those data were passed to Lebanese and Turkish authorities.
