WikiLeaks revealed that the United States used diplomatic pressure to help GE secure a contract to power Spain’s NH90 helicopters.
The Spanish military had selected Rolls-Royce as the engine provider, however Spain’s prime minister, José Luis Zapatero, intervened after diplomatic pressure from the American embassy.
Most of the NH90s sold worldwide are powered by Rolls-Royce engines.
