F-16 pilots at 144th Fighter Wing being investigated for payroll violations

The U.S. government is investigating F-16 pilots from the 144th Fighter Wing in Fresno for improperly receiving extra pay while on alert duty.

After flying a normal day shift, these pilots will go on alert shifts while getting paid again. U.S. law and military regulations does not allow more than one payday on the same calendar day.

A recent federal audit also found pilots also earned full pay for standby shifts spent at home with their families, asleep in their own beds, or on vacation if they could have returned to base within 12 hours.
