A small Israeli firm called R-Jet Engineering has proposed radical changes to the combustion chamber.
Instead of guiding air into the chamber using static blades, R-Jet wants the air and hot gases in the combustor rotate with the compressor and turbine.
This will allow engines to be cheaper and buys up to 25 percent less fuel.
