Hong Kong businessman bids to turn HMS Invincible into ‘school’

A businessman from Hong Kong has offered to pay £5m for the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible and tow the ship to China’s Zhuhai city.

Lam Kin-bong, who owned a chain of restaurants in Birmingham, wants to convert the ship into an international school.

Lam says he is expecting to spend another £6m to tow it to China and convert the ship.

He added that his intentions are purely commercial and has nothing to do with the Chinese military.
