Alabama ANG pilot investigated for using F-16 on personal trips

The Montgomery Advertiser reports that a pilot from the Alabama Air National Guard was investigated for taking the F-16 on personal trips and collected nearly $96,000 in unauthorized comp time.

The newspaper said the pilot was Col. Jeffrey Smiley, wing commander of the 187th Fighter Wing.

After three investigations by the Alabama National Guard, its was found that three of eight allegations against Smiley were substantiated. The Air Force InspecĀ­tor General found that there was enough evidence to subĀ­stantiate a fourth allegation after reviewing the report.
