Strikemaster crashed in Hudson, pilot killed

A privately-owned BAC Strikemaster crashed into the Hudson River, New York on Saturday afternoon. The pilot did not survive the crash.

A “first cut of steel” ceremony was held at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding Newport News on Feb. 25. The steel plate cut will be used in the construction of the carrier, which has yet to be named, but will be designated CVN 79.

In the first step towards recognizing the sacrifice by former RoCAF fighter pilot Hsieh Hsiang-ho, who was shot down while on a reconnaissance mission in 1964 over China, the Taiwan government awarded him the Medal of Victorious Garrison A-Second Class ribbon on Saturday.
