Taiwan’s former defense minister accused of “inappropriate conduct” as air force chief

Taiwan’s former defense minister and air force chief, Chen Chao-min, was rapped by prosecutors for “inappropriate conduct” as an air force chief during an investigation into a rape-murder case during his tenure as chief.

Former airmen Chiang Kuo-ching was wrongly accused of the crime and later executed by a firing squad.

The Taipei District Prosecutors Office said Chen had approved to let an air force anti-espionage unit to torture Chiang into confessing for the crime.

However, prosecutors will not file charges against Chen due to lack of evidence.
