Japan approves construction of Mitsubishi ATD-X stealth fighter prototype

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has been given 90 billion yen to construct a single prototype of its ATD-X Shinshin stealth fighter.

The aircraft is expected to make its first flight in 2014 and will not carry any mission equipment or weapon systems.
