The Pentagon has discovered that there is a design problem on the forward root rib on the wings of the F-35A and B model.
The root rib is an aluminum part located where the leading edge of the wing meets the fuselage. Its designed to last 8000 hours, but testing by BAE Systems found the part cracking at 2,800 hours.
