A small software change that calls for the V-22 rotors to be tilted about four degrees outward has boosted the lift capability of the aircraft.
Six weeks of testing in Logan, Utah confirmed that change reduces the air flow from the rotors over the wings. The improved lift allows the pilot to carry more fuel, more troops, go to higher altitudes, or some combination of the three.
