According to a briefing from the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Warfare Division, a new Virginia-class design with a new hull section could replace the four guided-missile submarines.
The new hull section, known as the Virginia Payload Module, would allow 28 Tomahawks to be loaded.
Together with the 12 missiles installed in the bows of Virginia-class, each boat will have 40 Tomahawks.
