Libya campaign exposed glitch in Gripen’s radio

Swedish Air Force pilots flying over Libya found out that their “Have Quick” secure radio cannot talk to NATO’s secure network.

The reason was that NATO was using the “training” channel with operational security keys, when the Gripen’s “Have Quick” radio detects operational security keys, it switches to the “operational” channel automatically. A fix is expected next year.

The Gripen’s 650 missions in Libya also highlighted some other shortcomings that will be fixed in future.
