Cost overruns of USS Gerald R. Ford could top $1.1 billion

The Pentagon may have to spend a extra $1.1 billion to finish construction of aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford.

The U.S. Navy found that some of the costs are due to construction inefficiencies. For example, some parts manufactured by Huntington Ingalls Industries were late in deliveries.
