The Pentagon says the scrap, rework and repair rate of the F-35 is currently at 16 percent, much higher than on other military aircraft programs at similar stages of production.
A spokeswoman from the program office compared the figure to other aircraft production programs that were at mid to high single digits when they reached a production level of 100 aircraft.
