Turkey’s state-run news agency reported Sunday that Syria’s first man in space, Gen. Mohammed Ahmed Fares, has defected to Turkey and joined the Free Syrian Army. A video on YouTube shows him visiting a rebel base in Aleppo, his hometown.
Fares was part of a three-mnn crew in Soyuz TM-3 that spent eight days in space and docked with Mir space station.
