Egyptian Apache helicopters attacked suspected Islamic militants in the Sinai Peninsula on Wednesday in the first such air strike since 1973.
The strikes came after gunmen attacked and killed 16 Egyptian soldiers, stole armored vehicles and drove into Israel to attempt another attack which failed.
