Besides defend Sir Lanka, the SLAF also runs a commercial aircraft venture named Helitours. Right now, it is conducting a feasibility study into buying more Mi-17s for use with Helitours.
The profits generated by the commercial venture will be used to pay for the loan to buy the helicopters.
