Poor workmanship behind INS Vikramaditya’s latest trouble

In an exclusive interview with RIR, Igor Leonov, the Sevmash engineer responsible for delivering INS Vikramaditya revealed that it was poor workmanship and not the quality of the fire bricks to be blamed for the latest problem on the aircraft carrier.

The problem was discovered in July when speed trials started and the boilers were pushed to their maximum capacity. The crew tried and failed to fix the problem while at sea.

Leonov said the ship will have newly laid fire bricks when it set sail on Jul. 3 next year. The original boilers will be retained.
