Rocket was China’s highest suborbital launch since 1976

Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, said the launch of a rocket from China on May 13 was China’s highest suborbital launch since 1976.

The rocket, launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China at 2100hrs, reached 10,000 km above earth.

A U.S. defense official said intelligence showed that the rocket could be used in an anti-satellite mission if required.
