Cargo shift to blame for 747 crash in Afghanistan

A joint U.S.-Afghan investigation into the crash of a 747 near Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan said cargo inside the aircraft shifted before the crash.

Nangialai Qalatwal, a spokesman for the Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation, said wiring at the back of the plane showed damage from the shifting cargo.

Vehicles inside may have slammed into the rear of the aircraft so hard that parts of the plane broke off and were left on the runway.
