Indian Air Force C-130Js played important role during humanitarian missions in Uttarakhand

Dense fogs and narrow valleys often hamper the Indian Air Force’s attempt to evacuate those stranded by floods in Uttarakhand. Not being able to deploy an early warning aircraft for air traffic control, a C-130J was used to monitor the weather patterns over Uttarakhand every morning.

This information would then be used to decide the schedule and direction of rescue sorties.

When the area ran low in aviation fuel, the C-130J was called in again to bring fuel and supplies to an airstrip.
