Black Sheeps forced to jettison bombs on Great Barrier Reef

Two AV-8Bs from VMA-214 were forced to jettison two BDU-45s and two GBU-12s on Great Barrier Reef on Jul. 16.

The jets were suppose to drop the bombs on a range on Townshend Island but reached bingo fuel while waiting for the range to be cleared.

The crew were forced to jettison the bombs 16 nautical miles south of Bell Cay and the U.S. Navy is planning a salvage operation to recover them.
